A Doctor's Confession to the City of Statesboro. Confessions are tough. Real tough. But, sometimes a confession can set the record straight, and I want to give credit where credit is due.
Twenty-two years ago something happened to me that changed my life forever. Back then I was very involved in amateur sports, but I developed a painful low back condition where my sacroiliac joints (joints of the low back) were locked. In my case it came on suddenly. The pain in my low back was so intense that I could not even play hockey, and originally from Canada, this was unacceptable!! I was afraid that I would lose my spot on the team if this disability continued. After considering taking the rest of the season off and try to prepare for the upcoming lacrosse season (that was the only option according to our family doctor), my parents and I decided against it. My parents convinced me to give our family friend, Dr. Dave the chiropractor a try. Dr. Dave did an exam and took some x-rays and then had me come back to "adjust" my spine. I was worried that the adjustment would hurt, but it actually felt good. I got relief and could play my favorite sport again! It worked so well and impressed me so much that when I got older I ended up going to chiropractic college myself. Now for the children in the picture. The boy is Kevin, my nephew and the girl is Kelly, my niece. Both of them get regular chiropractic care. Kevin gets treated to prevent allergies he had once been diagnosed with and also for his asthma. His asthma at one time prevented him from playing with his buddies sometimes because too much running around made it hard for him to breath. Since treating him, one would not even know he had the disease and not to mention, he is now outrunning them. Kelly, used to have ear infections and her parents were told that she needed tubes put in her ears. We treated her for a short duration and I am glad to say that her ears remain tubeless and she no longer has ear infections.
